Luke Mancebo Killed in Big Rig Crash on Flower Street in Merced County

Luke Mancebo Dies after Merced County Big Rig Accident on Flower Street near Bradbury Road

Merced County, California (May 19, 2020) – The Merced County Coroner’s Office has identified Luke Mancebo, 15, of Turlock, as the teen who was killed in a big rig accident on Sunday afternoon northwest of Delhi in Merced County.

The deadly crash occurred at about 4:30 p.m., on May 17, at the intersection of Bradbury Road and East Clausen Road.

A 2002 Yamaha Trail motorcycle, operated by Mancebo, allegedly ran a red light and was struck by a 2010 Kenworth semi-truck that was approaching, said the police.

As per the California Highway Patrol reports, the intersection has two posted stop signs on Clausen and Flower Street, but none on Bradbury.

Mancebo was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jonathan Calderon, 28, of Turlock, the truck driver, was uninjured. He remained at the scene and was cooperating with the police.

Intoxication was not believed to have played a role in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

“Far too many motorcycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists. Sadly, when this occurs, motorcyclists are the ones who tend to suffer the vast majority of injuries”, according to Arin Khodaverdian, Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group. Under California’s rule of comparative negligence, a victim may be able to collect compensation for injuries and other damages even if you were partly at fault for the accident.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
