Louis Walton Jr. Killed in Modesto Pedestrian Crash on Highway 99 near Tuolumne Boulevard

Modesto, California (June 5, 2020) – Authorities have identified Louis Walton Jr. 37, of Modesto, as the man who was killed in an auto-pedestrian crash on Monday morning in Modesto.

At about 4:30 a.m., on June 1, the California Highway Patrol responded to the deadly crash on Highway 99 at Tuolumne Boulevard.

As per the officials’ report, Walton was crawling in the No.1 lane of Highway 99 when, for unknown reasons, he was struck by a 2017 Hyundai driven by Randy Longnecker, 59, from Modesto.

The police said Walton was also struck by a black Chevrolet Malibu sedan and possibly a third vehicle.

Walton was pronounced dead at the scene.

Longnecker stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the mishap.

The crash remains under investigation.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
