Lisa Pena Sustains Major Injuries in Fatal Madera Ranchos Car Crash on Highway 145 near Road 38
Madera Ranchos, California (March 1, 2020) – Lisa Deanna Pena, 45, of Madera has been identified as the passenger injured in a fatal head-on crash that left two people killed and two others injured on Saturday morning in Madera Ranchos, according to the CHP.
At about 2:40 a.m., on February 29, two vehicles collided head-on on Highway 145 east of Road 38.
A 2015 Chrysler 300, driven by a 29-year-old man from Hollister, was westbound when it moved into the eastbound lane of Highway 145 while attempting to pass another vehicle. As a result, the Chrysler collided head-on with a 2003 Honda Accord driven by a 37-year-old woman from Madera, according to the police.
The Chrysler struck through a barbed-wire fence off the north shoulder of the highway, overturned, came to a rest in a cattle pasture, and then burst into flames following the collision while the Honda Spun and stopped blocking the eastbound lane partially.
The Chrysler Driver and the Honda driver were both declared dead at the scene.
Pena, a passenger in the Honda, and one other passenger in the same car were hospitalized at the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with major injuries.
A passenger in the Chrysler was also taken to the same hospital with significant injuries.
It was not determined if alcohol or drugs were factors contributing to the accident
Highway 145 was closed approximately four hours due to the accident.
