Kurt Scheel ID’d as Pedestrian Killed in Palm Desert Crash at Dinah Shore Drive and Miriam Way
Palm Desert, California (February 29, 2020) – Kurt Scheel, 52, of Rancho Mirage, has been identified as the pedestrian who died Thursday evening after being struck by a vehicle in Palm Desert.
At around 5:58 p.m. Thursday, February 27, the officers received a report regarding the accident in the area of Dinah Shore Drive and Miriam Way.
Police said a Chevrolet Suburban hit Scheel while he was walking across the road inside a designated crosswalk.
Scheel died at the scene.
The 34-year-old Palm Desert man driving the Suburban remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He was later released.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.
An investigation into the wreck is underway.
