Jose Gracia Aguiler ID’d Good Samaritan Killed in San Mateo Accident on Highway 101

San Mateo, California (February 24, 2020) – The good Samaritan who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in San Mateo on Friday, February 21, at around 2:00 a.m has been identified as a Jose Rafael Garcia Aguilar, 31, of South San Francisco, as per a police report.

The crash was reported on southbound Highway 101. 

Authorities said a blue Scion xB and a Ford Explorer and a Mercedes were involved in an earlier crash. Gracia Aguiler was driving a grey BMW when he pulled up behind the Scion to check on the three drivers.

Gracia Aguiler headed towards the other drivers on foot when another vehicle struck him and quickly drove away.

Gracia Aguilar was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The Scion driver suffered major injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

No other injuries were reported in the accident.

The vehicle was only described as a blue or green box-shaped SUV, possibly a Toyota or Subaru.

No other details of the crash were immediately released.

The crash remains under investigation.
