Jonathan Lopez Arrested, Man Killed in Bakersfield Pedestrian Crash on Edison Highway near Mount Vernon
Bakersfield, California (February 25, 2020) – 25-year-old Jonathan Lopez was arrested after a fatal pedestrian crash on Sunday, February 23, just after midnight in Bakersfield.
The deadly hit-and-run crash was reported on Edison Highway, east of the Mount Vernon overpass.
Police said a male pedestrian was walking on the highway when a vehicle driven by Lopez struck him.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Loped fled the scene of the crash but was later found and arrested for DUI and felony hit and run.
No other details of the crash were immediately released.
The crash remains under investigation.
