Javier Carrillo Killed in Ventura County Car Accident on Pacific Coast Highway
Authorities Identify Man Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on Pacific Coast Highway near Deer Creek Road in Ventura County as Javier Carrillo
Ventura County, California (May 3, 2020) – The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who was killed Friday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Ventura County.
Javier Carrillo, 42, of Oxnard, died in the wreck that took place at about 11:44 a.m. Friday, May 1 on Pacific Coast Highway near Deer Creek Road.
Authorities said a 2005 International box truck and a 2002 Ford flatbed construction truck were both traveling southbound on Pacific Coast Highway when the Ford slowed down to turn left onto Deer Creek Road.
The International box truck reportedly failed to slow down and crashed into the rear of the Ford truck. The force of the impact pushed the Ford truck into the northbound lane, where it collided with a 2011 Subaru SUV that was traveling northbound on the highway.
Carrillo, who was the driver of the International box truck, died at the scene.
The driver of the Subaru, a 76-year-old Redondo Beach man, sustained major injuries and was taken to Ventura County Medical Center medical.
A 61-year-old Thousand Oaks man, who was the Ford driver, suffered moderate injuries and was also transported to Ventura County Medical Center medical.
The three vehicles acquired significant damages in the crash.
Authorities closed the southbound and northbound lanes of the highway to investigate the accident.
The CHP asked anyone who witnessed the collision to call them at (805) 662-2640.
