San Diego, California (January 23, 2020) – The pedestrian who was killed early Sunday morning in an alleged hit-and-run accident in Sherman Heights has been identified.

Jason Gordon, 41, of San Diego, died in the accident that happened at around 1:50 a.m. Sunday, January 19 in the 1800 block of Market Street, between East Village and Sherman Heights.

Police said Christopher Nunez, 28, was driving a 2008 GMC Envoy eastbound on Market Street when he struck Gordon, who was in the Street. Nunez then dragged Gordon with his GMC for around 100 feet.

Gordon was found lying at the intersection of 19th and Market streets and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later located Nunez and arrested him. He was booked into County Jail on felony hit-and-run charges.

A GoFundMe page has been established to help cover Gordon’s funeral expenses.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
