Jack Newton Dies after Redwood City Train Accident at Main Street near Redwood City Station
Redwood City, California (May 7, 2020) – Jack Preston Newton, 75, from Redwood City, has been identified as the man who was killed in a train accident on Monday afternoon in Redwood City, according to San Mateo County Coroner’s Office.
As per the police logs, the crash transpired at about 4:00 p.m. on May 4, 156, at the Main Street crossing, just south of the Redwood City station.
According to the authorities, Newton was, for unknown reasons, struck by a southbound train no. 156 on the railroads.
Newton was pronounced dead at the scene.
All trains were temporarily stopped due to the accident. The northbound track was cleared for movement with a speed restriction of 10 mph at about 4:25 p.m.
No further details about the crash were immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
