Hilton James Killed in Car Crash on Valley Center Road near Rincon Reservation in Valley Center

Hilton James ID’d Man Killed in Valley Center Head-On Crash on Valley Center Road near Rincon Reservation

Valley Center, California (March 18, 2020) – Police officers have identified an 85-year-old driver who was killed in a head-on crash early this month in Valley Center, as Hilton James. 

The crash took place on Tuesday, March 3, at around 7:00 p.m. on Valley Center near the Rincon Reservation.

According to a police report, James was riding a Ford Ranger north on Valley Center Road and was approaching a curve when his vehicle drifted towards the southbound lanes.

The Ford sideswiped an oncoming Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by a 38-year-old Escondido woman, and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 56-year-old Vista man.

James was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Silverado and, his 89-year-old female passenger from Vista woman, complained of pain, and they were taken to the Palomar Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the Tahoe was not injured in the accident.

No other details of the crash were immediately released.

The crash remains under investigation.
