Helen Scheuplein Claremont Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Noth Towne Avenue
Claremont, California (January 10, 2020) – 67-year-old Helen Scheuplein of Covina has been identified as the driver of a vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian on Wednesday morning in Claremont, police said.
According to the Claremont Police Department, the 50-year-old James Redzik was struck by a vehicle driven by Scheuplein , and then she left him to die.
Redzik’s body was found in the 1600 block of North Towne Avenue near Foothill Boulevard at around 2:30 a.m.January 8.
On Thursday, Scheuplein was struck down by the Police on the 500 block of East Foothill Boulevard in Pomona and was taken to custody.she was booked on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and hit-and-run causing death.
Her bail was set at $100,000, according to county inmate records.
No other details of the crash were immediately released.
