Woman Killed, One Injured in Lakeside Crash on Wildcat Canyon Road near Ketuull Uunyaa Way

Lakeside, California (June 8, 2020) – A woman was killed and one other person was hospitalized Sunday afternoon following a traffic accident in Lakeside, authorities said.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at around 1:25 p.m. Sunday, June 7 on Wildcat Canyon Road, just south of Ketuull Uunyaa Way in the area of the Barona Resort and Casino.

A 21-year-old woman was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion southbound on Wildcat Canyon Road when, for unknown reasons, she lost control of her vehicle and veered into the opposite lane.

The Ford Fusion ultimately collided head-on with a Ford F-150, the CHP said.

The driver of the Ford Fusion died at the scene. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the Ford F-150, a 61-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities said neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected factors in the accident.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
