Girl Dies Four Days after Bike Crash at Bernal Road and Highway 101 in San Jose

Teenage Girl Killed in San Jose Bicycle Accident at Bernal Road and Highway 101

San Jose, California (March 27, 2020) – A teenage girl has died from her injuries sustained after being hit by a vehicle while riding a bicycle across a street in San Jose last week Friday, authorities said.

The fatal crash happened at around 10:30 p.m. Friday, March 20 at the intersection of Bernal Road and Highway 101.

According to the authorities, a 38-year-old man was driving a 1999 Toyota 4Runner eastbound on the roadway when he struck a 15-year-old girl who was riding her bicycle across Bernal Road on a red light.

The girl was taken to a local hospital with major injuries. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the hospital on Tuesday, March 24. Her name has not been released pending notification of family.

The driver stopped at the scene and was cooperative, authorities said.

Drugs were considered a factor in the accident. Detective Brian McMahon asked anyone who witnessed the collision to contact them at 277-4654.

“Far too many bicycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists. Sadly, when this occurs, motorcyclists are the ones who tend to suffer the vast majority of injuries”, according to Arin Khodaverdian, Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group. Under California’s rule of comparative negligence, a victim may be able to collect compensation for injuries and other damages even if you were partly at fault for the accident.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
