Felipe Cobian ID’d as Driver Killed in Baldwin Park Car Accident on 10 Freeway

Baldwin Park, California (February 20, 2020) – One person was killed and another injured in a crash involving three vehicles on Wednesday morning in Baldwin Park, according to police.

The accident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on the westbound 10 Freeway, just west of Francisquito Avenue.

The police said Felipe Cobian, 55, of Montclair, was driving a 1993 Nissan pickup truck on the westbound 10 Freeway when the Nissan sideswiped the left rear of a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV that was traveling in the No. 5 lane, driven by Ana Guillen, 57, of West Covina.

Due to the force of the crash, the Nissan whirled and ended in a northerly direction, straddling the middle lanes. Luis Uribe, 37, of Covina, who was driving a 2018 Honda Accord, attempted to avoid the Nissan but ended up hitting the right front side of the Nissan.

The CHP said it was not clear if Cobian was still inside the car in the second collision.

Cobian died as a result of the accident.

Uribe suffered a fractured back following the crash and was hospitalized for treatment.

Guillen, who was not injured, was taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation and was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

An investigation is underway. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the CHP Baldwin Park Area office at 626-338-1164

Mr. Khodaverdian encourages victims and their family members to seek legal help as soon as possible in order to preserve their rights to the full extent of the law.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
