Eva Barro among 2 Killed in Winchester Crash on Highway 79 (Winchester Road) near Scott Road

Winchester, California (January 27, 2020) – Eva Barro, 56, of Hemet, was among two people killed early Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Winchester.

The fatal accident was reported just after 1:00 a.m. on Winchester Road, just north of Scott Road. Winchester Road is also known as Highway 79.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet Silverado was heading southbound on Winchester Road when for an undetermined reason, the Silverado drifted over the double-yellow line and into the path of a Honda CRV that was traveling northbound. Both vehicles ultimately collided head-on.

Barro and the other driver both died at the scene.

It remains unclear whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
