Erich Hostetter Identified as Person Seriously Injured in Auburn Skateboard Accident on Highway 49 near Luther Road

Auburn, California (March 2, 2020) – Erich Hostetter has been identified as the man who was injured in a skateboard accident on Saturday morning in Auburn, according to the CHP.

The accident happened at about 7:38 a.m. on February 29 on Highway 49 near the intersection with Luther Road.

An Auburn man was driving a Honda Accord southbound on Highway 49 and was making a left turn on a green left arrow traffic signal onto the eastbound Luther Road. At the same time, Hostetter was riding a long-board skateboard northbound on the highway towards the intersection at Luther Road, according to the police.

The police said Hostetter slammed into the front of the Honda after failing to yield to the driver. Hostetter was traveling at an unknown speed at the time of the crash.

Hostetter was thrown to the road upon the impact. He was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical with serious injuries.

The Honda driver was not injured.

Alcohol or drugs was not considered factors in the accident.

An investigation is underway.
