Car Wash Employee Seriously after Being Struck by Vehicle on Foothill Boulevard near Briggs Avenue in La Cañada Flintridge
Los Angeles, California (March 5, 2020) – A car wash employee was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle at a car wash in La Cañada Flintridge, Los Angeles.
Authorities responded to the 2355 block of Foothill Boulevard near Briggs Avenue after reports of the incident that occurred at about 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, March 4.
According to the report, the car wash workers were running a customer’s four-door sedan through an automatic car washing machine. One of the employees reportedly entered the vehicle to move it to the drying area when, for reasons still under investigation, the sedan lurched forward and struck one employee.
The sedan dragged the worker for around 20 feet through the parking lot and onto Foothill Boulevard.
The man suffered severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery. Her name and condition at this time remained undisclosed.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
