Driver Seriously Injured after Car Struck by Train in Sacramento
Union Pacific Train Hits Car at Elder Creek Road in Sacramento, Injuring Driver
Sacramento, California (February 8, 2020) – According to a local news report, a driver sustained major injuries after his car was hit by a train in south Sacramento early Friday morning.
The crash happened at the Elder Creek Road train crossing at around 2:45 a.m. Friday, February 7.
Authorities said a white Ford van was by hit by a Union Pacific train on the tracks. The train pushed the van several hundred feet down the tracks before it went down an embankment.
Emergency crews responded to the location and freed the driver of the van from the wreckage. He was then taken to a local hospital where he was listed in serious condition.
The train blocked Florin Road to the south while the authorities investigated the cause of the accident.
