David Pinedo Killed in Sanger Pedestrian Accident on 8th Street
Authorities Identify Elderly Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Suspected Drunk Driver on 8th Street and Academy Avenue in Sanger as David Pinedo
Sanger, California (February 24, 2020) – The elderly pedestrian who was killed Friday night in an alleged DUI pedestrian accident in Sanger has been identified.
David Pinedo, 71, of Visalia, died in the accident that happened on 8th Street and Academy Avenue at about 9:30 p.m. Friday, February 21.
Authorities said Pinedo was trying to cross Academy Avenue in a crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle that was heading northbound, driven by Vivian Lugo, 44.
Pinedo was taken to the Community Regional Healthcare Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Lugo was found to have been driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He arrested and booked into the Fresno County Jail on charges of DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
