Bicyclist in Critical Condition after West Sacramento Crash on Jefferson Boulevard Sunday afternoon

West Sacramento, California (March 29, 2020) – Police are investigating the cause of a traffic accident involving a young bicyclist and a vehicle that happened in West Sacramento Sunday afternoon.

Authorities said the bicyclist was struck by a vehicle on Jefferson Boulevard at about 3:00 p.m.

The rider sustained major injuries and was taken to the UC Davis Medical Center in critical condition. The identity of the patient was not immediately available.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with the police. Investigators said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the collision.

Jefferson Boulevard was blocked from Gregory Avenue to Southport Parkway as the authorities investigated the accident. Divers were urged to seek alternate routes.
