Santa Barbara, California (April 11, 2020) – Authorities have identified the male passenger who was killed in an alleged DUI car crash that left three other persons injured on Thursday evening in Santa Barbara as Cole DeBortoli, 21, of Santa Barbara.

The fatal crash transpired at about 6:00 p.m., on April 9, on Highway 154, approximately a mile downhill from Painted Cave Road.

The police said a Mazda 3, for unknown reasons, collided with a Toyota 4-Runner, driven by Brian Watana Dul, 22, of Goleta, on the highway.

DeBortoli, who was a right-front passenger in the Mazda, was pronounced dead at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Two of Dul’s passengers suffered minor injuries.

Dul sustained moderated injuries due to the crash and was also taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. He was later arrested for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.

The crash remains under investigation.

Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, Mr. Arin Khodaverdian believes that car accident claims are rarely straightforward regardless of the circumstances involved. “Liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim and it is crucial, therefore, to have an experienced attorney on your side,” He said.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
