Christopher Shaw, Ryan Castanera, Perry Desersa ID’d as Persons Injured in Dixon Big Rig Crash on 80 Freeway Near Pedrick Road
Dixon, California (February 29, 2020) – Three people were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle accident on Friday morning in Dixon, according to Authorities.
The accident occurred on eastbound I-80 east of Pedrick Road at about 10:25 a.m., on February 27.
The police said a tractor-trailer operated by Sukhinder Singh, 60, of Sacramento, collided with a gray Honda sedan that was traveling westbound on I-80 just east of Pedrick Road. Due to the impact, the two vehicles swerved left into the center divider. The Honda came to rest, according to the police.
The rig continued and crashed through a metal guardrail and into the eastbound lanes, where it struck a Subaru, ripping it into three pieces in the process.
Moreover, the big rig continued and struck a tractor-trailer driven by Perry Desersa, 67, of Auburn, and both vehicles came to rest on the south shoulder of I-80 east.
The Subaru driver, Ryan Castanera, 40, of Hayward, was taken to the University of California, Davis, Medical Center in Sacramento with moderate injuries.
Christopher Shaw, 47, of Vacaville, who was driving the sedan, was taken to David Grant Medical Center on Travis Air Force Base with minor injuries.
Desersa minor injuries were treated at Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center. Singh was not injured.
