Christian Davis Arrested, Multiple Injured in Encinitas Crash on Coast Highway 101
Encinitas, California (March 2, 2020) – Police officers have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly drove into a crowd of people outside a bar in the 500 block of South Coast Highway 101 in Encinitas.
Authorities responded to the scene of the crash that took place on Sunday, March 1, at around 1:19 a.m.
Witnesses said Christian Dwight Davis, 28, had been at the bar and was asked to leave because he was intoxicated. After leaving the bar, Davis got into his U-Haul van and allegedly drove it into a crowd of people standing outside the bar.
Three people were hit and seriously injured by the van. One was transported to Palomar Medical Center while two other victims were taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital for treatment.
Davis was taken to the Vista Detention Facility. He faces four felony charges, three of attempted first-degree murder and one of attempted escape with force.
The crash remains under investigation.
