Hemet, California (February 25, 2020) – Richard Steward, 41, of Riverside, has been arrested following a Monday evening auto-pedestrian crash that left a police officer with minor injuries in Hemet, according to the CHP.
The crash happened on Chicago Avenue near the intersection of Ballew Way in an unincorporated area of Hemet at about 5:10 p.m. on February 24.
A Volkswagen Passat driven by Steward was pulled over by the CHP officer. Steward then drove off hitting the officer with his vehicle in the process.
The officer was hospitalized for minor injuries and later discharged.
Steward was later detained by the Sheriff’s Department near Mayflower Street and Florida Avenue on suspicion of driving under the influence and assault with a deadly weapon.
An investigation is underway.
A person on foot is no match for a vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death. “Due to the incredibly serious nature of these types of injuries, pedestrian accident cases often require special care in order to help ensure victims receive the full compensation they need for extensive medical bills, ongoing rehabilitation therapy, in-home care, lost past and future earnings, and numerous other economic and non-economic damages”, Said Arin Khodaverdian, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney. Arin noted that pedestrians, in most instances, have the right-of-way when crossing a street or an intersection. According to Arin, to properly investigate a pedestrian crash and prove negligence, enough resources are required. “A skilled attorney has the resources and will help investigate the accident to determine the party at fault,” Arin said.
Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys have helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”
Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
Mr. Khodaverdian is personally available for free consultations 24/7 by calling 866-773-0222.
