Cecilia Roan Among 2 Seriously Injured after School Bus and Car Collide at Bechelli Lane and Bonnieview Road in Redding

Redding, California (March 16, 2020) – Cecilia Roan, 16, was among two seriously injured students following a school bus crash in Redding early Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

The crash occurred at around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 11 at the intersection of Bechelli Lane and South Bonnieview Road.

Authorities said a bus from Shasta Union High School District was heading westbound on South Bonnyview Road when the driver, Thomas Kirshman, 61, failed to stop a stop sign at the intersection and struck two vehicles.

The bus was taking students to Enterprise High School’s agricultural program facility. Roan and twelve students were on the bus at the time of the accident.

Roan and another student sustained major injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. A driver in one of the two vehicles hit by the bus suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.

The CHP said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
