Candace Parks ID’d as 1 of 2 Killed in Oakland Car Accident on Interstate 580 near Lakeshore Avenue
Oakland, California (May 9, 2020) – Candace Parks, 8, has been identified as one of the two children who were killed in a multi-car crash that occurred on Thursday morning in Oakland, according to the Alameda County coroner’s office.
The deadly crash transpired at about 11:30 a.m., on May 7, on the westbound Interstate 580 near Lakeshore Avenue.
According to the police, a Honda Accord, for unknown reasons, lost control and struck a Caltrans truck parked near the center divider. The Honda was then hit by a Toyota minivan.
Parks and a 13-year-old boy, who were passengers in the Honda, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Honda driver, a woman, was hospitalized with severe injuries while one other child sustained moderate injuries.
More details about the crash were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
