Bill Demastus Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Indian Hill Boulevard in Claremont
Claremont, California (March 2, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a deadly crash involving a car and a pedestrian that occurred on Indian Hill Boulevard, just south of the railroad tracks in Claremont Saturday morning.
The pedestrian, identified as Bill Demastus, 95, was walking outside a crosswalk at about 7 a.m., on February 22, when a Honda Civic struck him.
Demastus suffered major injuries in the crash. Paramedics took him to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on Tuesday 25.
The Honda driver stopped and cooperated with the police.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
