Bicyclist Dies in Crash on Highway 32 in Chico

65-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Chico Crash on Highway 32 at Ten Mile House Trail

Chico, California (May 10, 2020) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a traffic collision involving a 65-year-old man riding a bicycle and a car that happened in Chico on Friday night.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. May 8, officers responded to eastbound Highway 32, just east of Ten Mile House Trail, for a report a fatal bicycle accident.

According to the report, the bicyclist was traveling eastbound on Highway 32 when, for unknown reasons, he was struck by a 2018 Chevrolet pickup vehicle that was also heading eastbound at about 55 mph.

The bicycle rider died at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.

“Far too many bicycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists. Sadly, when this occurs, motorcyclists are the ones who tend to suffer the vast majority of injuries”, according to Arin Khodaverdian, Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group. Under California’s rule of comparative negligence, a victim may be able to collect compensation for injuries and other damages even if you were partly at fault for the accident.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
