Bicyclist Dies After Being Hit by Truck on Azusa Avenue in Azusa

West Covina Man Killed in Azusa Bicycle Accident on North Azusa Avenue near Sixth Street

Azusa, California (January 28, 2020) – A bicyclist died after being struck by a truck Monday afternoon in Azusa, authorities said.

The fatal crash took place at about 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 27 in the 600 block of North Azusa Avenue near Sixth Street.

The bicyclist, a 65-year-old West Covina man, was hit by a box truck on North Azusa Avenue for reasons still under investigation.

The bicyclist sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities closed North Azusa Avenue near Sixth Street for several hours as the investigation and cleaned up took place. The road was reopened at around 10:00 p.m.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
