Bakersfield Pedestrian Crash at Union Avenue and 4th Street Kills Male Party

Vehicle Struck and Killed Pedestrian at Union Avenue and 4th Street in Southeast Bakersfield

Bakersfield, California (May 21, 2020) – A male party died at the scene after being struck by a car operated by 24-year-old William Chavez-Castro in the 400 block of Union Avenue at 4th Street Wednesday evening in southeast Bakersfield.

The Bakersfield Police Department did not immediately establish the circumstances that led to the fatal crash at approximately 11:50 p.m. May 20.

Officials said Castro was intoxicated and also driving without a valid license at the time of the collision. He was later arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail.

The fatal accident remains under an active investigation.
