Amos Toy Killed in Bakersfield Car Crash at Hermosa and South Edison Roads
Bakersfield, California (January 28, 2020) – The man who died in a traffic accident that happened Monday afternoon in Bakersfield has been identified by authorities as Amos Toy, 80, of Bakersfield.
The fatal two-car crash took place at about 3:30 p.m. Monday, January 27 at the intersection of Hermosa and South Edison roads.
The California Highway Patrol said a Ford F-150 pickup driven by Toy, was heading westbound on Hermosa Road when it ran a red light and collided with a Toyota sedan that was traveling southbound on South Edison Road.
The pickup flipped onto its roof after the impact. Toy, who was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision, was slightly ejected from the pickup. He was declared dead at the scene.
The female driver of the Toyota was transported to a hospital in unknown condition.
It remains unclear if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
