Lancaster Man Killed in Palmdale Traffic Crash on 14 Freeway ID’d as Anthony Beckett Jr.
Palmdale, California (January 7, 2020) – Authorities have identified the Lancaster man who was struck and killed by a vehicle early on Saturday morning as 42-year-old Anthony Beckett Jr.
The fatal collision, which happened at about 1:11 a.m. January 4, occurred on the Antelope Valley Freeway just north of Barrel Springs Road.
The accident began when a northbound 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix collided with another vehicle in the No. 3 lane for unknown reasons.
The Pontiac came to a stop in the slow lane after the collision.
Beckett, who was a passenger in the Pontiac, got out of the vehicle together with the driver and another passenger and stood on the shoulder of the roadway.
The initial report indicated that a third vehicle approached the crash site and struck Beckett.
Mr. Beckett was thrown over the bridge abutment and into the waterway upon the impact.
Meanwhile, Beckett died of his injuries despite life-saving measures.
