Andon Urbina ID’d as Passenger Killed in Bakersfield Truck Crash at Old River Road and Copus Road

Bakersfield, California (May 18, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Sunday afternoon truck accident that killed one person in Bakersfield.

The crash happened at about 6:27 p.m., on May 17, at Old River Road and Copus Road.

The police said a 2010 Subaru WRX, driven by McKenna Nicole Urbana, 20, of Tehachapi, allegedly ran a stop sign, for unknown reasons, at the intersection.

A Freightliner truck, driven by Camilo Garcia Lopez, 61, of Shafter, which was entering the intersection in the southbound lanes, unfortunately, struck the Subaru, said the officials.

Andon Alexander Urbina, 16, of Tehachapi, died at the crash site. Urbina was a back seat passenger in the Subaru.

Another passenger in the Subaru, Isabella Urbina, 18, sustained minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital.

The truck driver, Camilo Garcia Lopez, 61, of Shafter, was unhurt in the mishap.

Intoxication was not a factor in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
