Alain Gerard Dies after Car Collides with Dump Truck at Highway 41 and Road 420 in Madera County
Madera County, California (April 28, 2020) – A head-on crash claimed the life of a Coarsegold man Monday morning near Highway 41 and Road 420 in Madera County, authorities said.
Just after 9:00 a.m. April 27, Alain Gerard, 74, of Coarsegold, was driving his Nissan pickup northbound on Highway 41 when he developed some medical emergency.
Gerard reportedly lost control and drifted into the opposite lane where his pickup collided head-on with a large commercial dump truck, which was traveling southbound on Highway 41.
Gerard was declared deceased at the scene.
Gerard’s wife, who was a passenger in the vehicle, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.
The operator of the dump truck was not injured in the crash.
Southbound Highway 41 was closed as crews worked to clear the scene.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
