8 Inured after SUV Slams Into Tribal Building on Martinez Road in Thermal

8 Hospitalized after Thermal Car Crash on Martinez Road

Thermal, California (December 27, 2019) – Several people were hospitalized after an SUV slammed into a tribal hall building during a funeral service in Thermal Thursday evening, a local news source reported.

The accident, which was reported at around 5:09 p.m. Thursday, December 26, happened in the 66000 block of Martinez Road, inside Torres Martinez tribal lands.

According to the authorities, for an unknown reason, a sports utility vehicle crashed into the hall and caused significant damage.

Firefighters along with paramedics responded to the crash site and provided medical aid to the injured parties.  A total of eight patients were transported to a hospital, one with serious injuries, the other seven with minor to moderate injuries.

The California Highway Patrol said the driver of the involved vehicle was among the injured parties.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
