Man Killed in Sacramento Moped Accident on 66th Avenue
Sacramento, California (March 12, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a moped accident that killed a man on Wednesday in Sacramento.
The CHP said a 2008 Lancer moped and a 2005 Acura MDX collided on 66th Avenue.
A 62-year-old man driving the moped pulled out of a private road into the pathway of the Acura that was being driven eastbound on 66th Avenue by a 19-year-old man.
The Acura driver was unable to avoid the moped, and the two vehicles finally collided. Due to the impact, the moped driver was ejected and landed onto the westbound lanes of 66th Avenue,
The 62-year-old man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The 19-year-old man remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Intoxication was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
