2 Seriously Injured in San Diego Car Accident at I-5 and I-8

San Diego, California (February 7, 2020) – A multi-vehicle accident left three people with injuries on Thursday morning in San Diego, according to the CHP.

The crash happened at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, February 6, on southbound Interstate 5 at the junction with Interstate 8.

The police said at least three vehicles were involved in the crash. Authorities said a black car was seen flying from eastbound I-8 before it slammed into southbound vehicles on I-5.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and freed three people trapped in the vehicles. The three parties, two of them suffering from serious injuries, were hospitalized.

At least two of the victims were reportedly in military uniforms while one of the SUVs involved had government plates.

Following the accident, sections of the highway were closed by officials. As of 3:15 p.m., the roadway was re-opened.

The crash remains under investigation.
