2 Killed in Train Accident on L Line in Monrovia

2 Die after Monrovia Train Crash on L Line near California Avenue and Duarte Road

Monrovia, California (April 15, 2020) – Two people were killed in a Wednesday morning train accident in Monrovia, according to authorities.

The crash happened at about 8:45 a.m., on L Line near California Avenue and Duarte Road.

As per the police reports, a train was traveling northbound on the L Line, the Gold Line, when, for unknown reasons, it struck two pedestrians on the rails.

The two persons were killed as a result of the accident.

Services between Monrovia and Duarte stations were stopped for a while due to the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monrovia police and Sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau and Metro.

A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
