Christian Zurita and Matthew Adams Killed After 2-Vehicles Collided in Carlsbad

Carlsbad, California (January 15, 2020) – 42-year-old Christian Zurita of San Diego and Matthew Ryan Adams, 19, of Utah, has been identified as the two motorists killed in a head-on crash early on Tuesday morning in Carlsbad.

The two-vehicle crash occurred at about 12:20 a.m. January 14, on 5 Freeway near Las Flores Drive.

According to a California Highway Patrol report, the accident involved a Ford F-150 driven by Zurita southbound in the northbound lanes and a 2008 Pontiac sedan operated by Adams.

The initial report indicated that the  two vehicles collided head-on along the highway.

Zurita and Matthew were sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

A passenger identified as a 35-year-old San Diego man riding in the pickup truck sustained major injuries following the wreck.

More details regarding the crash will be released immediately after the CHP completes the investigation.
