1 Hospitalized after San Diego Car Accident on Highway 54 near Reo Drive

San Diego, California (December 9, 2019) – According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, a person was hospitalized Sunday morning after a traffic accident involving a suspected drunk driver in San Diego.

The DUI crash occurred at about 5:32 a.m. Sunday, December 8 on State Route 54, just east of Reo Drive.

As per the CHP report, a pickup truck collided with another vehicle on the westbound State Route 54.  Moments later, a third car slammed into the pickup truck.

One person was transported to the trauma center at Mercy hospital with major injuries. The name of the patient and their condition were not immediately disclosed.

Authorities said the pickup truck driver was possibly drunk at the time of the accident.

Three tow trucks were dispatched to the scene to remove the wrecked vehicles.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
