1 Killed in Newport Beach Accident on Pacific Coast Highway
One Killed, 1 Arrested in Newport Beach Crash after Police Pursuit Sunday Morning
Newport Beach, California – Following the Newport Beach accident that happened on Sunday morning, one person was killed and another one arrested.
At about 5:35 am, a police pursuit began on Goldenwest Street and Ellis Avenue in Huntington Beach when the police attempted to pull over a driver. The person was driving a black Honda Accord that is suspected to have stolen in Modesto.
The driver ignored the police and fled southbound on Goldenwest Street entering eastbound Pacific Coast Highway.
Due to the high speed, the police called off the chase.
Later the police received a report of an accident involving, Honda, in the 3000 block of Pacific Coast Highway. The Honda rolled onto its roof and one passenger died.
The driver fled the scene but was later arrested. He was taken to the Orange County Global Medical Center as he sustained major injuries.
The identity of the parties involved was not revealed immediately.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Huntington Beach Police Department.
