Driver Killed After 2 Vehicles Crashes on Highway 1 near Highway 156 in Monterey
Monterey, California (June 27, 2020) – A traffic collision involving a blue 2013 VW Tiguan and a white 2019 Ford F250 on northbound Highway 1 in Monterey, at approximately 3:00 p.m., resulted in the death of one person.
The initial report indicated that the Ford, driven by 49-year-old Kevin Johnson, struck the rear of the VW Tiguan after it slowed down near Highway 156 Friday afternoon on June 26.
The VW Tiguan operator died at Natividad Medical Center while undergoing treatment. Pending notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed.
Johnson, an Ellijay resident, was not hurt following the wreck.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected factors in the accident. An investigation into the crash is underway.
