Woman, 56, Killed in Long Beach Car Crash on Canal Street near Ester Street; Eric Munson Arrested

Long Beach, California (April 13, 2020) – A 56-year-old Rancho Dominguez woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon in Long Beach, according to authorities.

As per the police reports, the deadly accident occurred on Canal Street south of Ester Street, at about 4:40 p.m. April 12.

A 2003 Nissan Altima, driven by Eric Munson, 23, of Long Beach, was traveling eastbound on Canal Avenue when it smashed into a parked 1995 Toyota Tercel occupied by the 56-year-old woman, said the officials.

The impact pushed the Toyota into a trailer of a parked semi-truck.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the accident, Munson alighted from his car and fled the scene on foot. A passenger in his vehicle remained on the scene and was cooperative, said the police.

Munson was later arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and felony hit-and-run. He was booked into jail on a $100,000 bail.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group, Mr. Arin Khodaverdian believes that car accident claims are rarely straightforward regardless of the circumstances involved. “Liable insurance companies will often do everything possible to limit their out-of-pocket expenses by either devaluing or outright denying your claim and it is crucial, therefore, to have an experienced attorney on your side,” He said.

Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”

Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
