1 Killed in Head-On Crash on Highway 299 in Redding

Woman Killed in Redding DUI Crash on Highway 299 near Whiskeytown Scales

Redding, California (January 30, 2020) – According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, one person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Redding on Wednesday.

The deadly wreck occurred on Wednesday, January 29 on Highway 299, just west of the Whiskeytown scales.

According to the CHP report, a Toyota pickup truck, driven by a suspected drunk driver, was heading westbound on Highway 299 towards Weaverville when it collided head-on with a Chevy truck that was traveling eastbound towards Redding.

The female driver of the Chevy was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

The Toyota driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
