Fatal Car Crash on 5 Freeway in Castaic Kills One Person

Castaic, California – Following the Castaic single-car accident that occurred on 5 Freeway on Wednesday afternoon, the Los Angeles County Fire Department has responded as one person was killed.

A white Chrysler was traveling southbound on 5 Freeway when for unknown reasons the car went off the road and plunged 400 feet down the embankment.

At around 2:51 pm, the accident was reported just north of Lake Hughes Road, CHP said.

Emergency crews responded to the accident and retrieved the car with a rope rescue.

The driver of the car was a solo occupant who was killed in the accident. However, the identity was not revealed immediately pending family notification.

No more information about the accident was released.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
