1 Killed in Otay Mesa Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 805 near State Route 905

Otay Mesa, California (April 16, 2020) – A traffic crash claimed the life a person Wednesday night in the Otay Mesa neighborhood of San Diego, according to a California Highway Patrol report.

At around 10:50 p.m. April 15, officers responded to the southbound lanes of Interstate 805 near State Route 905, for a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a car.

According to the CHP report, a motorcyclist and a car collided for unknown reasons in the middle lanes of the interstate.

Authorities said one person died at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Debris from the collision was scattered across all lanes on the southbound freeway. Authorities closed the two right lanes of the highway as crews worked to clear the scene.

The accident remains under investigation.
