Man Killed, 3 Injured in 2-Vehicle Accident on Highway 154 near Painted Cave Road in Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara, California (April 10, 2020) – One person was killed and three others were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Thursday evening in Santa Barbara, according to police.
The accident happened on Highway 154 in the mountains above Santa Barbara just about a mile downhill from Painted Cave Road, at about 6:00 p.m., on April 9.
The CHP said, an SUV and a Mazda sedan collided on Highway 154. The SUV, driven by Brian Watana Dul, 22, of Goleta, reportedly broadsided the Mazda on the passenger side.
One person was extricated from one of the vehicles by the emergency crews.
A male passenger in the right-front of the Mazda was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Three other persons were also taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. One party with moderate injuries and two others with minor injuries.
Following the accident, Dul was arrested for DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
The crash remains under investigation.
