1 Dead, 1 Hurt Following Highway 18 Crash in Apple Valley
One Killed, One Injured after Several Vehicles Collide on Highway 18 near Apple Valley Road in Apple Valley
Apple Valley, California (April 1, 2020) – One person was killed and another was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after a traffic accident in Apple Valley, authorities said.
A 2014 Toyota RAV4 was traveling westbound on Highway 18 near Apple Valley Road when it was struck from the back by a blue 2002 Chrysler Town and Country van at around 3:15 p.m. March 31.
After the impact, the Toyota was pushed into the eastbound lanes and collided with a white Dodge van and a gray 2012 Toyota Highlander.
The female driver of the Toyota died at the scene. Her name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
A passenger the Dodge van sustained undisclosed injuries and was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Authorities closed Highway 18 between Apple Valley Road and Kasota Road for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
