Elderly Woman Suffers Major Injuries in Alameda Pedestrian Accident at Encinal Avenue and Walnut Street
Alameda, California (February 11, 2019) – An elderly woman was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle in Alameda, authorities said.
At about 1:24 p.m., the authorities received a report regarding a pedestrian crash in the area of Encinal Avenue and Walnut Street.
Authorities said the woman was struck by a minivan while she was walking across the road in a designated crosswalk.
The woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital.
The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
Police closed the intersection of Encinal Avenue and Walnut Street following the accident.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
