Elk Grove Man Killed in Sacramento Big Rig Crash on I-5 near Florin Road

Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 5 near Florin Road in Sacramento

Sacramento, California – A multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Interstate 5 near Florin Road on Tuesday morning, a 39-year-old man from Elk Grove was killed.

The California Highway Patrol stated that a big rig driver was traveling southbound on Interstate 5 when the driver failed to slow down while approaching slow-moving traffic.

The semi-truck collided with several vehicles causing a chain reaction that accounted for the involvement of ten vehicles.

According to the CHP, the man from Elk Grove was driving a Chrysler 300 who was killed in the accident.

Meanwhile, two other victims sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital.

Following the accident, the semi-truck tipped over and blocked all the southbound lanes. This made the officers divert traffic to Florin Road.

Due to the accident, there was a heavy traffic jam and caused the delay, however, the roadway was cleared by 10 pm.

The police did not find any involvement of alcohol or drugs in the accident.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
